Belmont Shore-Naples Beaches Reopen After Sewage Spill

The cause of a sewage spill that shut down Colorado Lagoon, Marine Stadium and Bayshore remains under investigation.

LONG BEACH, CA — Three beaches in Long Beach were reopened Wednesday following a two-day closure prompted by a sewage spill.

The city's health officer ordered the reopening of Colorado Lagoon, Marine Stadium and Bayshore, with lab results showing the ocean water to be within state quality standards. Mother's Beach and 56th Place will remain closed until the water quality improves, according to the city.

The sewage spill occurred Monday, and its cause is still being investigated.
