Big-Rigs, Cars Crashes Shut Down Lanes on Long Beach Freeway Overnight

No one was injured in the collisions and the lanes reopened early Monday morning.

A crash involving two big rigs and two cars shut down two southbound lanes on the Long Beach (710) Freeway in Long Beach for nearly four hours, until early Monday, but no one was injured, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The collision took place on the southbound 710 Freeway at Willow Street about 10:35 p.m. Monday, according to CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos. The force of the collision sent one of the big rigs off the freeway and down the embankment, and the other truck jackknifed, he said.

There were no injuries to anyone in the trucks or cars and no fuel spill at the scene, he said, but the crash tied up traffic on the southbound 710 Freeway for hours. It shut down the No. 2 and 3 lanes and a SigAlert was declared at 11:10 p.m. Monday, Villalobos said.
