I Live in Belmont Shore But I Am Homeless

Just last Sunday I lived in Belmont Shore just a block from 2nd street, then in one day I became homeless. Please read my story, there are kids who need help.

I am a victim of domestic violence. Last Sunday night my neighbors called police when they heard me screaming while my husband was beating me leaving cuts and bruises. He was arrested and released on the same day. For some reason the officer did not give me restraining order on the scene. I had just a few hours to gather some belongins for my kids and myself and leave.

For a few hours we stayed at a friends' place while trying to find a shelter. But none would take us, seems that all shelters were overbooked on that day. I had just $20 dollars on me, some clothing, no food, no place to go, and 2 kids. How did that happen that I had no money? Well, my husband is the super-controller, to the point of abuse. He never gave me any money, wouldn't let me get a job. I also didn't have access to mail, was not alowed to invite anyone in the house, or even have my own opinion. When I didn't obey I was yelled at, called names. and threatened.

At the end of the day a relative from another state sent us enough money to stay in a motel for 2 nights. After that another friend offered us "house sitting" for 2 weeks. So, here we are.

I spent every day either at the court house or calworks office. Calworks promised to help but in a month, it takes that long to process an application. Restraining order is still not served. I have no means to rent an appartment (no money and no proof of income), and no money for food or basics.

Please, I ask anyone who can help, spread the word, we need a place to stay. It can be an inexpencive studio or 1 bedroom for rent, or we could share a place with another single mom, or someome has a place to "housesit". If someone could help us financially, I will pray for you every day.

Thank you all for reading this story, may God bless you.
