Tinkerbelling: Lemonade Day

Life gave me a lemon so I'm Making Lemonade. I'm taking the opportunity of this unplanned time off to share stories of the many artists and creators in this wonderful city that I love. Come with me on my 100-day odyssey of art and creativity in Long Beach. I call it The Community Lemonade Game.

This past weekend, Long Beach artists at Stan Lee's Comikaze found several greats from years past.  Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, Neal Adams, Stan Lee himself and Tink.  Urban legend says that Marilyn Monroe was the first Tinkerbell.  I checked Snopes.com to see if the rumor was true, but there were no matches found.

September 18th was Day 79.  I went to Stan Lee's Comikaze and met Tinkerbell.

Margaret Kerry was the model for Tinkerbell in the 1953 Disney animated movie, Peter Pan.  Over six months at Disney Studios, Kerry pantomimed the part of Tink, and was drawn by artist Mark Davis. Ms. Kerry's hair style still resembles that of Tinkerbell.

As graceful in demeanour as one might expect, Ms. Kelly offered me a seat next to her when I asked for a photo.
