BREAKING NEWS: A Report of Bomb in Long Beach Walmart Unfounded

City News Service is reporting that Long Beach Police were dispatched to a local Walmart but found no explosives

Sgt. Aaron Eaton told the news service that a bomb squad searched got the report that a device was at a Walmart in the 100 block of East Fifth Street.

But a search of the store did not turn up any explosives. The store had been evacuated. City Place Long Beach released the statement below after the store was found to be safe:

City Place Long Beach re-opened to visitors at approximately 4:10 p.m. following an all-clear status as determined by the Long Beach Police Department and City officials.

Guest and employee evacuation procedures were initiated due to an anonymous phone caller claiming the presence of an explosive device on the shopping center property. No objects were found.

City Place’s primary concern is the safety of its guests and employees. City Place security immediately escorted guests and employees outside the area while the Long Beach Police Department conducted a physical inspection of the area. City Place Long Beach was closed between Third Street, Sixth Street, Pine Avenue and Long Beach Boulevard.
