Immersed in the Internet? You're Digin'!
Before a word can be added to the Oxford English Dictionary, it must be used by a large number of people in an array of different sources such as newspapers, books, magazines... and blogs.

When a friend or even a random stranger asks for help, we try to help them.
Today NBC anchors Willie Geist and Natalie Morales are campaigning for a new word to be added to the Oxford English Dictionary (OED), and they asked for my help. Oh, not me by name, but here's a part of the transcript discussing the addition of the word digin' to the OED:
>> but to make it official, a newly invented word would have to be used by a large number of people in an array of different sources such as newspapers, books and magazines as well as more casual contexts such as personal blogs and electronic communications . so we're doing our best for digin'. The word is digin'.
Personal blogs. Hey, I can help!
As the message went this morning, I believe it was producers Adam and Tammy who actually came up with the word. I'm giving credit where credit is due. Feel free to substitute blame for the word credit in the previous sentence. The second time it was announced, Willie, Natalie and Al were all in on the game... (or do I mean blame?)
You see, the OED is constantly updated with new usages for old words, or new words for old ideas, or new words for new ideas.
Some words currently under consideration discussed today on Today were: hatewatch, bacne, duffin, appisode. If you want to see what these words mean, check out the video replay here (if you prefer to read, click on the Transcript link).
Now I'm talking about digin'. d-i-g-i-n-apostrophe. Like digit, but with an in' at the end. I've posted an image of their entry as it might be written in the OED.

digin' usage as I might use it:Hey, kid, watch where you're going! You're going to get hit by a car if you don't stop digin'.
I can't believe that at our Christmas dinner everyone was totally digin'! The only way to have a conversation with my sister was on facebook, even though we were sitting at the same table!
Daughter, I'm talking to you, so stop digin' and listen to me!
Isn't it funny how in the elevator at work everyone is digin'? No one looks up to say hello any more!
I wonder how we can get everyone digin' on my blog?
Tag, now it's your turn...
About the Author
Trish Tsoiasue blogs voluminously on Patch. She has to her credit multiple YouTube channels (please subscribe!) and is working very hard to bring Making to youth in her community. She recently entered a contest for a Fusion Energi Adventure in Ford's $20 Road Trip Contest (she asked lots of random strangers to help - many did). She is still licking her wounds that she didn't even make the list of 25 finalists. Ever hopeful, she's thinking that maybe she'll win an iTunes gift card. Even though she didn't win, she must keep her promises and is planning an abbreviated trip with her friend WackyCap (they are now WackyCapNTrish thanks to their Fusion Energi Adventure trip planning). You see, she's been learning many mask techniques from WackyCap that she really wants to share with SOMEBODY!
