The SoCal Animal Response Team (SCART) will be holding their 7th Annual Pet Fair in the Park. The event will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 9:30am-2:30pm at the Long Beach Marine Stadium Park. New to this year’s event will be a Walk for Pet Preparedness which will start at 9am. Along with that, there will be the traditional disaster information vendors, pet products, pet foods, opportunity drawings, low-cost dog and cat vaccinations and deworming, micro chipping, agility dog demonstrations, food trucks and lots more. All proceeds from this event go directly into supporting our organization and allowing us to respond, train and educate the public. Last year there were approximately 50 booths set up and 300+ people in attendance. In 2007 SCART responded with personnel and donations to the California wildfires in Orange County, all of which was made possible by donations received from the fair.
SCART is a non-profit organization and was founded to respond to animal needs and assist other agencies during a local or national disaster or crisis. We educate the public to prepare for a disaster and train them to care for their animals before, during and after a crisis. We also assist local and national agencies by responding to a crisis with trained volunteers, which can include evacuation and shelter management teams. We are an all-volunteer organization and rely on fundraisers and donations to support our team and their efforts.
