Billie Jean King Tennis Center Jr. Summer Tennis Camp
Directed by BJK Tennis Center’s Head Pro and 2009 USPTA - LA District Pro of the Year VALTER PAIVA
All kids ages 5 – 18 are welcome to attend our Summer Tennis Camp. We also will be including a special PEE WEE camp for younger kids with less experience during weeks 2; 4; 6; 8; and 10.
The most important feature of BJK’s Summer Tennis Camps is that the kids HAVE LOTS OF FUN while DISCOVERING THE GAME OF TENNIS. Beginners will be taught the fundamentals of tennis. The intermediate players will work on developing solid ground strokes, serves and volleys. The advanced juniors will focus on fine-tuning their overall game during competitive situations.
For the FIRST time at the BJK Tennis Center, we will be introducing 10 & UNDER TENNIS. This program uses the QuickStart Tennis play format that takes a new and better approach to introducing kids to the game. Balls are lower in compression; they bounce lower and don't move as fast so they are easier to hit. This allows kids time to get to the ball and helps them develop optimal swing patterns. Racquets are sized for small hands, and the courts are smaller and easier to cover. All that equals more fun and less frustration for the kids!!!! One Full sized court will be reconfigured to accommodate up to six 36-foot courts, so instead of waiting in line, kids can spend their time playing.
All Campers receive a camp T-shirt and refreshments. We will be giving away prizes & awards, including one JR. tennis racquet to a lucky camper each week. Good sportsmanship and a positive attitude are strongly encouraged.
