Concerned About Traffic, Sidewalk and Street Repairs in the 5th District of Long Beach?
(LONG BEACH, CA; June 19, 2012) –Fifth District Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske will be hosting a community meeting this Wednesday, June 20th at 6:30 pm to discuss several traffic and infrastructure issues facing the 5th Council District. The community meeting will take place at the El Dorado Community Center, located at 2800 N. Studebaker Road, Long Beach, CA 90815.
Participants will be able to voice opinions as to where they believe money would be best allocated for city infrastructure repairs. A comprehensive list will be supplied at the meeting that will include the location and cost of specific infrastructure projects, as well as a list of streets and sidewalks that have been repaired or replaced since 2006. Documented sites in need of repair will be placed into categories for sidewalks and streets that have curb, gutter, tree and standing water problems.
“I am inviting the residents of the 5th District to join me in one of the first “participatory budgeting processes” ever used in Long Beach,” says Councilwoman Schipske. “Since coming into office in 2006, my top priority has been infrastructure and how best to use the limited funds I receive to make the necessary repairs and replacements to all of our damaged streets, sidewalks, trees, curbs and gutters. However, revenues are tight in the city, so I am asking our residents to participate in helping me prioritize these repairs."
