The workshop is being held at the Sea Scouts Aquatic Center for Alamitos Bay Dock owners, volunteers and those who are curious about the native olympia oyster. At the workshop, volunteers will learn how to cull non-native species, count oysters, and prep them for placement at the community oyster bed at Jack Dunster Marine Reserve later this summer.
The award winning documentary "SHELLSHOCKED" will be shown at the end of the workshop: "SHELLSHOCKED: Saving Oysters to Save Ourselves follows efforts to prevent the extinction of wild oyster reefs, which keep our oceans healthy by filtering water and engineering ecosystems."
