Valentine's Lecture: The Art of Love

For the second year, The Long Beach Playhouse celebrates Valentine’s Day with a presentation by Gregorio Luke. This lecture explores the intimate connection between sex, eroticism, and love.  It includes examples of love and eroticism in literature, from ancient texts like the Kama Sutra to contemporary authors.  Luke will also discuss mythic lovers like Casanova and Don Juan, present slides of the greatest erotic art and read the best love poetry.

The evening will begin at 7 pm with a complimentary luscious aphrodisiac desert table, music and a selection of wines for purchase from the Playhouse wine bar. Mr. Luke’s lecture begins at 8 pm.

Gregorio Luke is an internationally renowned speaker and an expert on art and film. Mr. Luke was named 2011 Distinguished Artist of the Year by Long Beach Council for the Arts. He has recently completed an acclaimed performance of Marie de Buenos Aires with the Long Beach Opera.
