Injured Officer Shot By Fellow Officer During Gun Battle with Suspect

An officer recovering from a bullet wound was shot by a fellow officer, but evidence shows the suspect fired too, police say.

Long Beach police today announced they found a round in a wall directly behind the injured officer that came from the gun of a suspect in an officer-involved shooting at a North Long Beach apartment complex.

The detectives also revealed that the bullet recovered from the injured officer came from the weapon of another officer who was returning fire at the suspect

While ballistic evidence is still being investigated, Long Beach police believe the evidence will show the suspect fired at more than one officer at the scene.
