Lemonade Days To Return to Long Beach, California

The Community Lemonade Game will return... What new creatives will I find?

Catching you up to the Community Lemonade Game... That game played out right here, on the Belmont Shore Patch, when Friend Nancy was Editor. I was helping her build the fun in the Patch, and she was helping me learn the benefits of a social media presence.

Some years ago, in 2012, I created a game. I called it the Community Lemonade Game. My mission was to find, interview, research and blog about 100 creatives, in blocks of 25 daily blog posts, right here on the Belmont Shore Patch. I never made it to 100, but I found evidence of Day 79, when I met Margaret Kerry, the original Tinkerbell.

Somewhere along the way, I got distracted, and forgot to finish the game. Goodness knows what was so important that I would forget to complete such an important personal mission!

Still, I created the game and made the rule that I could change the game, so I did. On December 22nd, I declared the game won.

You see, I had met so many creatives, and wonderfully supportive folks... I had played and made and created and shared. We had gathered ourselves equipment and supplies, and had started ourselves a Makerspace at the Long Beach Sea Base. We had entered collaborations and kept making new friends. We had embedded ourselves in the Maker Culture and philosophy. There was no way that the game was anything but won.

But the best games are played over and over again, and I'm feeling the need to find new Makers. My life is different now, and it will be interesting to see how the game will roll out, or even if I can find anyone to play with me. It won't start for a while, because I have to do some thinking about the rules of the game.
