Let the Highland Games Begin!

The Scottish Highland Games will demonstrate feats of strength...

The fun starts on Saturday Feb 15 and goes through Sunday Feb 16.

I'm watching Made Of Honor.  Patrick Dempsey is ready to attempt the Caber Toss as he tries to win the bride over.  It reminds me that this weekend we'll get to see the Caber Toss in real life at the Queen Mary's ScotsFestival, which celebrates the ship's Scottish heritage with bagpipes, a Rock the Kilt concert and without a doubt, the Highland Games.

The Caber Toss is just one of a series of feats of strength that are simulations of activities such as tossing a sheaf of hay over a bar, throwing a 12-22 lb hammer, tossing a 26-58 lb weight attached to a chain as far as you can.

I've seen a perfect caber toss... at least, I think it was... What do you think?

That was at the Scotsfest 2013.  You, too, may be able to catch a perfect Caber Toss as you sample some scotch, eat haggis and Rock Yer Kilt.  Listen to traditional tunes on the bagpipe and try some scotch pie - made the real way.  Here's my try... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yY2pyAlVbSk

The fun starts on Saturday Feb 15 and goes through Sunday Feb 16.

Don't miss the Rock Yer Kilt lineup: 1916, Bad Haggis, Brick Top Blaggers, Stand Easy and DJ Abel. Rock Yer Kilt Concert Tickets - $15
