Man Arrested in Spate of 405 Road Rage Attacks

A 43-year-old Long Beach man suspected in a monthlong spate of road rage attacks was arrested today following an investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Donald James Kleven was taken into custody this morning by CHP investigators who gathered eyewitnesses photos and cell phone footage, said Officer Edgar Figueroa.

The crimes began on March 27, and mostly occurred on the San Diego (405) Freeway in the Long Beach area, Figueroa said. The most recent attack occurred April 28.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing the driver getting out of his vehicle in front of his victims, making obscene gestures and committing vandalism by kicking their cars, Figueroa said. Klevin also is accused of several hit-and- run collisions and also allegedly used his vehicle to intentionally harm his victims.

Klevin is being held in the Long Beach jail in lieu of $160,000 bail.
