Man Dies, 3 Teens Injured in New Year's Eve Crash
Witnesses say the drivers was speeding when he lost control and skidded sideways into a light pole.

A 23-year-old Long Beach man was driving too fast on New Year’s Eve, and was killed when his small car skidded sideways into a light pole, police said today.
Three passengers were critically injured in the crash, at 10:45 p.m. on Pacific Coast Highway at Magnolia Avenue, said Long Beach police Lt. Jeff Berkenkamp.
Officers found a 2010 Honda Civic with major damage and the 23-year-old motorist dead. Paramedics rushed three passengers -- an 18-year-old woman and two 16-year-old boys -- to an area hospitals in critical condition, Berkenkamp said. They are all residents of Long Beach.

Witnesses told police that the Honda had been speeding eastbound on PCH when the driver lost control of the car and it began to spin sideways. The vehicle then slid toward the south curb and struck a light pole, police said.
It was not immediately known if the driver had drugs or alcohol in his system, and his name was not immediately released.
