Man Dies from Heart Attack at Long Beach Marathon
The man had not been taken to the coroner's office for positive identification.

LONG BEACH, CA -- A man riding his bicycle in Sunday's annual Long Beach Marathon suffered cardiac arrest and died at a hospital, authorities said Monday.
Paramedics assigned to the race course were already working to resuscitate the man at Ocean Boulevard and Prospect Avenue when they called for an ambulance at 6:27 a.m., said Long Beach Fire Department spokesman Jack Heflin.
The man was taken to a hospital where he died, coroner's Lt. Larry Dietz said. The man had not been taken to the coroner's office for positive identification.

More than 15,000 people took part in the marathon, half-marathon, 5-k and bicycle races that started in downtown Long Beach at 6 a.m., according to race officials.
