Kim handed down the maximum term for Anthony Glen Gorospe, 53, who pleaded no contest in late February to an attempted murder charge and two counts of assault on a peace officer with a semiautomatic firearm."We were only out there because the neighbors asked us to come out," victim Brett Bush said, adding that he "didn't know if I was going to live or die."Gorospe fired from inside his door, striking the Long Beach code enforcement inspector, then 51, near the left eye on July 5, 2012, at the defendant's property in the 6100 block of North John Avenue, which had received several code violations.Gorospe fired several more rounds while barricaded inside the home and repeatedly yelled for officers to shoot him. No police officers were injured.He was eventually taken into custody in his yard just before 2:45 p.m. that day after being bitten by a police dog.City News Service
