Man in His 30s Shot Sunday in Long Beach

The victim was wounded in a possibly gang-related drive-by - a Volkswagen Beetle, police reported.

A man in his 30s was shot in the upper leg by a suspect in a VW Beetle while standing on a Long Beach sidewalk, the Long Beach Police Department reported Sunday night.

The victim was with another man in his 30s in the 2100 block of Olive Avenue at 2:53 p.m. Sunday when they were approached by a Volkswagen Beetle with an unknown number of passengers, Long Beach police Sgt. David Marander said.

``An occupant of the suspect vehicle fired a gun at the victims and struck one of the victims in the upper leg area,'' Marander said. The victim was hospitalized with a non-life threatening wound.
