Man Killed in Speeding Crash ID'd as Marco Antonio Hernandez Alvarez
Witnesses say Alvarez was speeding on PCH when his car skidded sideway and crashed into a light pole.

The coroner’s office Saturday released the name of the 23-year-old Long Beach man killed when his small car skidded sideways into a light pole in Long Beach.
He was Marco Antonio Hernandez Alvarez, said coroner’s Lt. David Smith.
Three passengers were critically injured in the crash, at 10:45 p.m. Thursday on Pacific Coast Highway at Magnolia Avenue, said Long Beach police Lt. Jeff Berkenkamp.

Officers found a 2010 Honda Civic with major damage and the Hernandez Alvarez dead. Paramedics rushed three passengers -- an 18-year-old woman and two 16-year-old boys -- to an area hospitals in critical condition, Berkenkamp said. They are all residents of Long Beach.
Witnesses told police the Honda had been speeding eastbound on PCH when the driver lost control of the car and it began to spin sideways. The vehicle then slid toward the south curb and struck a light pole, police said.

It was not immediately known whether the driver had drugs or alcohol in his system.
