Man Stabbed While Sleeping on Bus Bench

A man was stabbed while he was asleep on a bus bench in Long Beach today.

The man called police a little after 1:35 a.m. and reported that he woke up with a stab wound on a bus bench in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and Ellis Street, said Long Beach police Lt. Jeff Berkenkamp.

Paramedics rushed the man to an area hospital with a non-life threatening stab wound, Berkenkamp said. He was identified only as a man in his 50s.
