Free Night Ranger Concert Today is an '80s Flashback
Get your big hair on for Thursday afternoon's Long Beach Airport show featuring the 1980s superstar rock band, Night Ranger. You'll be all ready for the 'Rock of Ages' premier Friday.
In anticipation of the Rock of Ages movie musical set for release Friday, famous eighties rock band Night Ranger will play a free live acoustic show at the Long Beach Airport at 1 p.m. Thursday.
Hosted by Jet Blue Airways and the Long Beach Airport, the unique performance will be given from atop Parking Garage A, located next to the terminal. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.
Organizers foresee plenty of acid-washed jeans, spandex and other appropriate dress from fans, who can expect to hear their favorite Night Ranger anthems and ballads, such as Sister Christian, Don’t Tell Me You Love Me and (You Can Still) Rock in America.
After playing on Thursday, Night Ranger will travel to Hollywood attend Friday’s premiere of Rock of Ages, a movie musical starring Hollywood heavyweights Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Catherine-Zeta Jones and Paul Giamatti, as well as British comedian-actor, Russell Brand, and acclaimed R&B superstar, Mary J. Blige.
In the movie, today’s top actors perform yesterday’s greatest hits from an era that gave the world big hair and even bigger rock legends, like Def Leppard, Poison, Pat Benatar, Styx, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Twisted Sister and Bon Jovi.
Set in Los Angeles in 1987, the jukebox musical chronicles the rise of a wannabe rocker who falls for an aspiring actress from the midwest, with Tom Cruise playing an Axl Rose-esque singer and Alec Baldwin as his manager.
Like many bands from the eighties era, the groups featured in the movie are finding a new audience in a younger generation, no small thanks to Guitar Hero.
But no matter what age is listed on your license, the Night Ranger concert Thursday promises to deliver a unique rock experience.
