Pair Arrested After Eagle-Eyed Owner Spotted Stolen Truck

The owner called police after following the pair. A quick pursuit netted the two, a man and a woman.

A short pursuit through the streets of San Pedro ended in the arrest of two car theft suspects, police said.

A woman whose white pickup truck was stolen several days ago spotted her vehicle parked earlier Sunday with the suspects -- a man and a woman -- seated inside, Los Angeles police Sgt. Ed Pigao said.

The woman followed the truck and around 3:50 p.m., she called the police, he said.

Police engaged in a pursuit near 17th Street and south Pacific Avenue for about 10 minutes, Pigao said.

The chase was called off because of public safety concerns, he said.

The suspects pulled over at 15th Street and south Cabrillo Avenue and got out of the vehicle, but officers weren’t far behind, Pigao said.

“Once they thought they weren’t being chased anymore, they decided to walk through the neighborhood and officers drove right up to them,” he said.

Both the man and woman were taken into custody without incident.

Their names were being withheld.
