Pink Party To Kick Off Weekend Pride Event
The Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride Weekend begins tonight.

The 5th Annual Pink Party will kick-off the Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride Weekend Friday at the East Village Art District.
Participants will wear varying shades of pink and everyone is encouraged to dress the part. Hosted by famed drag performer, Jewels Long Beach, the Pink Party will transform the area with festive décor, pink lights and electronica music courtesy of DJ Barry Weaver.
High-energy house and techno beats will keep guests dancing in the streets all night while a Long Beach Drag Diva Show, featuring Delta Work and Sonique from RuPaul’s Drag Race, will showcase dance and lip-synching performances.

First District Councilman Robert Garcia and Vice Mayor Suja Lowenthal will also make an appearance during the celebration.
Two full outdoor bars are presented by Hamburger Mary’s and Bliss 525 and guests will have the opportunity to get their hair and nails colored pink at the Big Pink Hair and Nail stations.

A portion of the proceeds from the Pink Party will benefit the Long Beach Gay & Lesbian Center’s Mentoring Youth Through Empowerment (MYTE) program.
The event will be held at East Village Arts District at intersection of 1st Street Linden Avenue. Cost of admission is $10 at the door. Festivities will run from 7-11 p.m.
Note: from 2 p.m. May 18 to 1 a.m. May 19, Linden Avenue from 1st Street to Broadway and 1st Street from Linden to Elm avenues will be closed.
