Power Restored to Most Long Beach SCE Customers

An overnight power outage left more than 1,000 customers in Long Beach without power.

Electrical service was restored to all but about four dozen customers today in Long Beach, where two outages interrupted power to about 1,400 customers.

Both outages involved equipment problems, according to Southern California Edison, which expects to get the remaining customers back on line by midday.

The first outage began about 4:25 p.m. Tuesday in the area of North Colorado Place, SCE’s Susan Cox said.

“This outage was not on the network that had an extended outage last month in Long Beach,” Cox said.

The second outage began about 90 minutes later in the 2700 block of Santa Fe Avenue, and “involved multiple spans of bad underground cable,” Cox said.
