Following a two-year period including 19 motorcycle crash deaths, police in Long Beach will add extra patrols to areas where crashes occur.

The Long Beach Police Department will conduct a specialized motorcycle enforcement operation Saturday in an effort to reduce deaths and injuries.
Extra officers will patrol areas frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes have occurred.
Police will be looking for drivers and riders alike who are breaking the law. They will also crack down on regular vehicles as well as motorcyclists who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs or making illegal turns.
