The Secret Art Show. Shhh!

It was probably the worst-kept secret in Long Beach. Ever.

The opening for The Secret Art Show, at Made in Long Beach (236 Pine Ave) turned out to be the worst kept secret in Long Beach!

Hundreds showed up for the opening. I stood in line for a while, behind a fellow from San Diego. The crowd stretched around the store and nearly out through the front door. Not bad for a Friday night!

You can still see the show, which will remain open for the month of July. Enter through the open door marked with the red light. As you walk through the long, dimly-lit, narrow corridor filled with wall to wall, floor to ceiling art, you feel as if you’re in a subway tunnel in the Twilight Zone. The tunnel leads to a secret room in the back of the store, one with a roll up door that hides large, bright, found object art, and what I will call organ art.

Maybe the many participating artists were the ones who let the cat out of the bag about The Secret Art Show. Maybe it was Jesse Miller and Miller Communications. Maybe it was me?

The Secret Art Show was curated by Jesse Miller and promoted by Jesse and Jennifer Miller of Miller Communications.
