The 30th Anniversary of The Nutcracker in Long Beach

Long Beach welcomes the return of this classic holiday tale of dance, music, and magic.

Saturday marked the return of "The Nutcracker" for its 30th Anniversary run in Long Beach, and there are only Sunday's matinee and next weekend's three performances remaining to see this classic holiday tradition.

David Wilcox, artistic director of the Long Beach Ballet, has said of the production, " I tend to be a 'traditionalist' and believe that Tchaikovsky's genius should be honored by presenting his work as he wrote it."

And traditional it IS, from the set and costumes to the two harps - as it was originally written by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky for its premier some 130 years ago in St. Petersburg.
