Good Thursday morning, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Belmont Shore Patch surf report. Well, we're seeing more small energy, but look for things to possibly pick up a bit later in the day.
The conditions are mostly clean early on, with a minor amount of slowly building west northwest swell in the water. That recipe is making for some fairly weak lines, with a few fun ones on a log.
Most spots in the Seal Beach area are running about knee-to-thigh high, with the standout breaks pulling waist-high sets. If you're going to go for a paddle or try out an SUP, the Belmont Shore stretch of sand is ideal where there are basically no waves.

Taking a look at the tides, at 8:54 this morning it pushes way up to a 5.7 high which is going to have many spots pretty full or even shut off down mid morning. Your best bet: Wait for that tide to turn around and drop a bit. It eventually drains out to a negative 0.6 low at 3:42 this afternoon.
If you're going to get wet, throw on at least a 3/2 full-suit or the 4/3 and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 57 degrees. See ya in the water!
