Two Dogs Killed in Belmont Shore House Fire

A couple lost their pets and their home suffered significant damage Wednesday when a fire broke out at their Belmont Avenue home.

Two dogs died this afternoon in a fire that caused significant damage to a two-story home in Long Beach.

Nearly three dozen firefighters who were sent to 250 Belmont Ave. at 2:42 p.m. kept the flames from spreading to a neighboring home, said Jake Heflin of the Long Beach Fire Department. It took about 15 minutes to extinguish the blaze, he said.

The first floor of the home suffered “a significant amount” of damage, Heflin said.
