Woman, 88, Killed While Crossing Broadway

Shirley Hyman was struck by a car while crossing Broadway in Long Beach Sunday.

Authorities today identified an 88-year-old woman who was fatally injured by a vehicle as she tried to cross a Long Beach street.

Shirley Hyman of Seal Beach was injured about 7:30 p.m. Sunday while she was walking south across Broadway in an unmarked crosswalk at Orizaba Avenue, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

She died at a hospital.

The motorist stopped at the scene and was interviewed by police, who did make an arrest.
