Woman Struck and Killed Crossing PCH

A 62-year-old woman died from her injuries when she was struck by a car while trying to cross PCH outside of a crosswalk at night.

A 62-year-old woman who was struck by a car while trying to cross a street in Long Beach died of her injuries at a hospital, police reported today.

The accident occurred near the intersection of East Pacific Coast Highway and Lemon Avenue shortly after 9 p.m. Tuesday. The woman, whose name was withheld pending notification of family members, died about three hours later.

Police said the pedestrian was crossing south on Pacific Coast Highway, where there was no crosswalk, when she was struck by a 2002 Hyundai Sonata. The 36-year-old driver, a Long Beach woman whose name was withheld, was interviewed at the scene and then released.
