Young, Married Belmont Shore Couple Found Fatally Shot in Condo

Police are trying to determine if this was a murder-suicide.

LONG BEACH, CA -- A rookie South Gate police officer and his wife were found shot at their condominium in Long Beach, with their two young children unharmed, and authorities Tuesday were investigating their deaths as a possible murder-suicide.

Police were dispatched around 9:50 p.m. Monday to the 1000 block of Park Avenue on a possible domestic violence call, said Lt. David Faris of the Long Beach Police Department.

Arriving officers found the couple inside the residence, each with a single gunshot wound to the upper body, and a weapon was located. Their children -- a toddler and an infant -- were taken into protective custody.
