1 Dead As Multiple Vehicles Collide On I-80 In Solano County: CHP
The person who died was standing in the center median after the initial collision when he was struck by another car.
SOLANO COUNTY, CA — One person was killed early Monday in chain-reaction collisions involving four cars on Interstate Highway 80 north of Vacaville, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officers were dispatched at 2:30 a.m. Monday to westbound Interstate Highway 80, east of Midway Road, where a blue Audi A5 driven by a 26-year-old San Jose man collided with a white BMW 328i, CHP Officer David Harvey said.
Neither driver was injured in the initial collision but at 2:35 a.m. as they were stopped in the center median, with both cars partially blocking the fast lane, a gray Toyota Camry driven by a 29-year-old San Rafael woman crashed into the BMW.

The impact of the second collision caused all three cars to hit the people standing in the center median, Harvey said.
A third collision happened when a gray Honda Civic driven by a 17-year-old Elk Grove resident entered the crash scene and hit one of the cars.

"The driver of the BMW was pronounced deceased at the collision scene," Harvey said. "All other involved parties received minor to moderate injuries."
The injured parties were treated at NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield.
The CHP did not immediately disclose the name or city of residence of the BMW driver; the Solano County coroner's office was expected to release that information once his family members were properly notified.
In the meantime, the CHP encourages anyone with information pertinent to the crash investigation to call the CHP Solano Area Office at 707-428-2100 and ask for Officer Padilla.
It was the second traffic fatality in as many days in the Dixon area of Solano County. On Sunday, a Dixon man died when he went off the roadway and into a canal, the CHP said.
