11th Annual Tri, Girl, Tri(TM) - All Women's Sprint Triathlon Coming Soon To Lake Berryessa

Lake Berryessa will once again provide a gorgeous venue for Envirosports’ 11th Annual Tri, Girl, Tri™ - All Women’s Sprint Triathlon, held on October 4.

This triathlon has fast become a favorite for first-timers, as well as seasoned triathletes looking for a fun, supportive atmosphere!

The triathlon’s sprint course entails of a 500-yard triangle swim (water temperatures in Lake Berryessa will most likely be hovering in the mid-60s to mid-70s, wetsuits are allowed, but not mandatory). Next, participants will jump on their bikes for an out-and-back 11-mile spin, along the rolling hills surrounding Lake Berryessa.

The triathlon finishes the out-and-back 3-mile run course that fallows over rolling terrain. This event is the estrogen-powered version of the popular Napa Valley Sprint Triathlon held each May.

Entry fees are now $105 individual, $180 relay (per team). Commemorative Technical T-shirts and finishing medals go to all participants. And, personalized award plaques to top three individual finishers in each 5-year age group, top three overall Athena finishers, first place physically challenged finisher, and top three relay teams (2 & 3-person teams combined).

The event is limited to a field of 700, and it does sell out in advance. Those who really want to participate are advised not to wait too long to pre-register. Participants can sign-up at Envirosports’ Web page.

The Tri, Girl, Tri Triathlon, will be headquartered in the picnic area at the Putah Canyon Recreation Area (formerly known as Chaparral Cove or Putah Creek). Putah Canyon campground is approximately half-mile north of Pope Canyon Road, On 7600 Knoxville Road. (It takes about 45 minutes from Winters and/or Napa.)

Resort gates will open 7:00 a.m., with triathlon check-in running from 7:30-8:45 a.m. Race waves will begin approximately at 9:00 a.m., with each consecutive waves following every two to three minutes.
