3 Solano Co. Students Awarded Scholarships From Tesoro Corp.
The Benicia and Suisun City residents were among 50 new scholarship recipients nationwide.

SOLANO COUNTY, CA -- Three Solano County students were recently awarded $4,000 scholarships from San Antonio, Texas-based Tesoro Corp., the operator of a Martinez petroleum refinery.
The local recipients were: Claudia Ganhao, of Benicia, a sophomore at Solano Community College; Angelica Marie Van Gogh, of Benicia, a freshman at University of California, Berkeley; and Cody Myers, of Suisun City, a sophomore at Pepperdine University.
The Tesoro Scholarship Program is in its fourth year; to date, $1.54 million has been donated via scholarships, according to a news release. The local recipients were among 50 nationwide -- 25 in California -- awarded new scholarships totaling $200,000. Scholarships were also renewed for 72 existing recipients.

Awardees are not required to major in a certain area of study, a spokesperson for the program said.
