7 Injured When Car Crashes Into Dollar Tree Store In Vallejo

The injured were cut by glass from the shattered front window or were hit by the car, a fire department official said.

VALLEJO, CA — Seven people were injured Thursday when a car crashed through the front of a Dollar Tree Store in Vallejo, a fire department spokesman said. The incident was reported just before 1 p.m. at 3475 Sonoma Blvd., in the Vallejo Plaza Shopping Center, authorities said.

Personnel with the city's police and fire departments, along with Medic Ambulance, responded to the scene near Redwood Street and state Highway 29.

A 71-year-old Vallejo woman was the behind the wheel of a 2001 Honda Accord when she drove 60-70 feet through the front window of the Dollar Tree store — seemingly stopped by a concrete post, Vallejo police Lt. J. Potts said.

"The accident does not appear intentional," Potts said.

The driver suffered minor to moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital, authorities said.

Six other adults were injured and were taken by ambulances to local hospitals for evaluation.

The injured were cut by glass from the shattered front window or were hit by the car, according to Vallejo Fire Department Engineer Kevin Brown.

There did not immediately appear to be structural damage to the building, Brown said.
