SOLANO COUNTY — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on Interstate Highway 80 in Solano County Sunday morning.
The woman was hit by a 2015 Peterbilt truck at about 12:50 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the interstate, just east of the Cordelia Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility scales.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene and found the deceased woman. The truck's driver pulled into the scales apparently thinking he hit a box or another object, according to a statement from the CHP.
CHP officers investigated the truck, which sustained radiator damage and allegedly had physical evidence linking it to the collision.
The 59-year-old driver from Oakley was determined to have struck the woman in the number six lane, which is the far-right lane, after merging onto I-80 from state Highway 12.
Drugs or alcohol was not believed to have been a factor, according to the CHP.
The collision remained under investigation as of Sunday.
