Arsenal U11 Boys Take Second in Weekend Soccer Tournament

The Benicia Arsenal FC 00 U11 Boys team played into the championship game in their first tournament of the year this weekend in Concord. The boys finished second after dropping the championship game to the Heritage Eagles of Martinez at the Diablo FC Summer Challenge Tournament at Boatwright Fields.

The Arsenal boys defeated Castro Valley United Gold 3 goals to 1 in the first match Saturday morning, Aug. 20. Later that day they continued their winning way, beating South San Francisco FC 6-1.

The Benicia boys needed a tie against Napa Sport AC Atletico on Sunday morning to reach the finals. Arsenal FC 00 scored an early first goal and then put on a stellar defensive effort allowing only an equalizing goal the rest of the way. The 1-1 tie put Arsenal FC 00 in the championship game. 

Heritage took the game to the Benicia boys, beating them 5-0 in the final.
