
MARTINEZ, CA - City Manager, Brad Kilger, today announced the hiring of Anne Cardwell as the
Assistant City Manager for the City of Martinez. Cardwell will fill the position that was vacated by
the previous Assistant City Manager Alan Shear, who left in April of this year to assume the position
of Administrative Services Director with the City of Millbrae.
Cardwell has over 22 years of experience in the public and private sectors as an administrative
professional, 13 of which has been with the City of Benicia in the City Manager’s Office. For the last
three years, she has served as the Assistant City Manager in Benicia, with oversight responsibilities
for the administrative services departments (i.e., Finance, Human Resources, and Information
Technology). She is known in the City for her professionalism and leadership in the departments
she oversees, as well as throughout the organization.

Cardwell is a graduate of UC Berkeley and has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She completed
her Master’s work at UCLA in Educational Psychology.

for this position and excited to take on this new opportunity.”

Cardwell will assume her new position on September 26, 2016.
