Benicia Holidays Bursting With The Sounds Of Music
The Middle School and High School bands spread holiday cheer on First Street.
On December 3 and 10, one could spot Vikings and Panthers all along First Street during two days’ worth of holiday festivities. Great weather on both days helped to bring out the community, so they could enjoy the cherished traditions of the Holiday Open House & Tree Lighting and the Holiday Parade.
For the Panther Band, the holiday festivities offered a brief respite from an intense academic schedule. Holiday merriment was nestled between honor band auditions, college applications and SAT tests, while approaching finals and end of semester projects loomed on the other side.
This is their third trip down First Street since September, and offered great exposure as they prepare for their debut at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City in March. After the holidays, the practice schedule will ratchet up a few notches, where they will build the endurance and fitness needed for the five mile parade route in New York.
