her beauty
is
like the sun

it warms the earth
but sometimes
the light
is so bright
it can burn
your eyes

I saw her
on Park Street
and had to look
the other way

she was kind enough
to lower
the radiance
of her smile
to a calming glow

refreshing me
making it easier
to see
and breathe

like the sun
she knows
how to cover herself
with clouds

and of course
I never have
to ask
