ABBY by Bobby Richardson

Something tried to keep us apart

but in the end we prevailed

such a perfect love

is like a perfect ocean

It is meant to be sailed

setting adrift with full speed

and full throttle

I can’t really explain this feeling

So some day i’ll have to put a message in a bottle

And maybe after many years

some lonely soul will find

and interpret the message within

a message for all human kind

It will read

there once was a dog who was my little Abby girl

A part of my family

A piece of my world

A piece of my heart

A piece of my soul

A journey in it’s infancy

A journey just beginning to unfold

Abby you help to fulfill my life

with spirit so rich with joy

A reminder of my child hood days

upon receiving my first toy

Abby there is a fire hydrant somewhere

with your name written on the tab

Fire engine red

undeserving of a dalmation

but befitting a Mcnab

I’ll always thank the heavens

for putting our kindred spirits in the same place

and maybe, just maybe some day

ours will be an example for the

entire human race
