Love’s Anatomy by Dana Green
Between the left lung and the right
Where air flows in both day and night,
Expand, contract
The tender tubes, the pulsing breaths,
The sputum lubes.
A place carved out inside the breast
A ruby fist in vesseled chest.
Beneath carina’s tender crotch,
A place we call the cardiac notch.
