Benicia Man Who Was Hit By Car Dies in Hospital

BREAKING: The victim had suffered a fractured skull and other major injuries.

BENICIA, CA -- A Benicia man who was struck by a vehicle in Santa Rosa earlier this month died in Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital on Dec. 18, Santa Rosa police say.

Joseph Muth, 55, was struck by a 1994 Pontiac Grand Am while crossing northbound Santa Rosa Avenue near Powderhorn Avenue around 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 9.

Muth was not in a crosswalk and the driver, a 65-year-old Santa Rosa man, said he initially did not see Muth and could not avoid hitting him, Sgt. Summer Black said. The roads were wet from rain that day.
