Benicia Middle School Viking Band Marches to a Win

The Vikings marched well despite early morning rain showers.

Bad weather didn’t dampen the performance of the Benicia Middle School Viking Band at the Fairfield Band Review held Saturday, November 17.

Early morning sprinkles may have been falling, but the Viking Marching Band, directed by Glenn Walp, took it in stride, bringing home a first place trophy.

Neel Kishnani, the Viking’s drum major, took home a first place trophy in the military competition for his outstanding moves on the parade route. The 36-member Color Guard team also marched to a first place win.

Inside the concert hall, the Viking Symphonic Band and the Jazz Band played their way to second place finishes. The percussionists, as part of the Drum Line team, pulled out a 3rd place trophy.

While the Viking Band was wet and cold from a day of performing in the on-again, off-again rain, Booster President, Nora Rodgers said,  “It didn’t rain on our parade!”
