Benicia Police Log: Lots of Arrests and Some Loud Parties

Friday, September 7, 2012

10:41 a.m.: Police issued a citation for  a violation of a Benicia Municipal Code.

12:49 p.m.: Officers gave assistance during a child custody disagreement.

1:28 p.m.: Police received a report of a kid throwing rocks at a car.  Officers spoke to the kid.

1:59 p.m.: Police received a report of kids pushing a cart down Southampton Road.  Officers were unable to locate any kids with a cart.

2:03 p.m.: Two men who were not students were seen walking on school property on East J Street.  They were gone when officers arrived on the scene.

2:12 p.m. A resident on Periwinkle informed police of an ongoing issue with a neighbor playing loud music.

2:46 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a Lilac home.

3:24 p.m.: The couple who were arguing on East Fourth Street were able to work through their immediate issues after officers arrived on the scene.

3:55 p.m.: A resident on Clearview asked for advice on dealing with an ongoing neighbor issue.

4:00 p.m.: A Southampton merchant reported three kids skateboarding in front of the merchant’s business.  The kids were gone when officers arrived.

4:29 p.m.: A 26-year-old Vallejo man was arrested on Buena Vista after it was determined he may have violated a court order.

5:00 p.m.: Police received a report of a man driving while texting on McAllister and nearly hitting a pedestrian.  The man and his car were gone when officers arrived.

5:01 p.m.: A cleaning company accidentally activated an alarm at an East Industrial business.

5:13 p.m.: Officers were unable to determine what activated an alarm at a business on Camel.

6:32 p.m.: Officers opened an investigation into a hit and run that occurred on Panorama.

6:40 p.m.: To roommates on Military West got into a fight.  The fight was broken up and neither combatant wanted to press charges.

7:05 p.m.: Police opened an investigation into the theft of a car from East Fourth Street.

7:19 p.m.: Police received a report of a man drinking alcohol and being argumentative in a West K Street park.  Officers spoke to the man.

10:41 p.m.: Police received a report of kids getting high on East Second Street.  Responding officers found no evidence that the kids were getting stoned.

11:11 p.m.: That suspicious van full of people spotted at Solano Square turned out to the transportation for a cleaning crew.

Saturday, September 8, 2012

4:42 a.m.: Officers were able to determine that an alarm activation on Park Road was due to employee error.

8:27 a.m.: Police received a report of a customer disturbance at a business on Southampton Road.  The customer left the business after speaking to officers.

8:45 a.m.: The alarm activation at a Park Road business was an employee error.

9:15 a.m.: Police received a report of a suspicious person on Carlisle.  Investigating officers found the person in question was a PG&E employee looking for gas leaks.

10:04 a.m.: Police were asked to document a violation of a court ordered custody agreement on Shirley.

10:22 a.m.: Police were asked to document a violation of a court ordered custody agreement on Southampton Road.

10:53 a.m.: A Southampton Road business reported a customer tried to pass a bad check.

11:46 a.m.: There was a non-injury traffic collision on Columbus.

12:23 p.m.: Officers spoke to a person who accidentally drove onto the Valero property.

12:24 p.m.: Police received a report of a suspicious person on Rose Drive.  Investigating officers found the person in question was a PG&E employee looking for gas leaks.

12:38 p.m.: Officers documented an ongoing neighbor dispute on East O Street.

12:44 p.m.: Officers documented an ongoing neighbor dispute on West Second Street.

1:29 p.m.: Police received a report of a woman checking the doors of cars parked in a lot on Southampton Road.  Officers were unable to locate the woman.

2:10 p.m.: A resident on West K Street reported a parked car was blocking the driveway.  Officers spoke to the owner of the offending vehicle who agreed to move it.

3:37 p.m.:  There was a family disturbance on Violet. 

4:08 p.m.:  A resident on Mills asked officers to document a case of harassment over the internet.

7:07 p.m.: Officers received a report that a man may have stolen some stuff form a store.  The man was gone and the store manager didn’t find anything missing.

7:45 p.m.: Police opened an investigation into a case of a violation of a court order.

8:45 p.m.: A 21-year-old Benicia man was arrested for domestic violence, battery resulting in bodily injury and destroying a phone.

9:28 p.m.: Police received a complaint of a loud party on Buena Vista.  Officers spoke to the party’s hosts who agreed to turn down the v0lume.

9:49 p.m.: Police contacted the owners of a barking dog on Military East.

9:55 p.m.: Police received a report of a driver spinning doughnuts in a Military East parking lot.   The man and his car were gone when officers arrived.

10:27 p.m.: Police received a report of loud banging coming from a residence on Riverview.  Officers spoke to the person responsible and he agreed to be quiet.

10:57 p.m.: A drunk man was causing a scene at an East Fifth Street business.

12:45 a.m.: A 46-year-old Benicia woman was arrested fo drunk driving on Military East.

12:48: A 21 year-old Benicia man was arrested for drunk driving on Piercy.

1:10 a.m.: Officers spoke to the people on London whose dog was barking.

2:43 a.m.: The hosts of a loud party on East H Street agreed with officers who suggested it was time to lower the volume.

4:32 a.m.: A caller on Military East reported receiving threats from two people.  Officers were unable to locate the people.

10:51 a.m.: Officers documented an incidence of vandalism on Sanborn.

2:28 p.m.: Officers opened an investigation into a residential burglary on Ardmore.

2:44 p.m.: there was a verbal altercation on East Second Street.

3:22 p.m.: Officers opened an investigation into a residential burglary on Rose Drive.

4:20 p.m.: That suspicious vehicle on York was just a ride for a resident.

4:54 p.m.: A homeowner on Turner failed to turn off the alarm in a timely fashion.

6:56 p.m.: The loud party on Chelsea Hills broke up after police arrived on the scene.

7:55 p.m.: The possible drunk driver spotted on Southampton Road was gone when officers arrived.

7:58 p.m.: An unknown female was knocking on the door of a residence on Carlisle.  The woman was contacted by officers.

8:21 p.m.: Police looked for but couldn’t find a suspected drunk driver on East Second Street.

8:29 p.m.: Police opened an investigation into a theft that occurred on West L Street.

8:48 p.m.: Officers arrested a 31-year-old Benicia woman who had an outstanding warrant issued in Solano County.

9:24 p.m.: A vehicle parked on Arguello was vandalized.

10:15 p.m.: A vehicle parked on Barton was vandalized.

11:06 p.m.: Officers spoke to a person who was spotted behind a Southampton Road business.

11:59 p.m.: A shoplifter spotted in a Solano Square business managed to get away before officers would arrive on the scene.

Editor’s Note:  Even though I inject a bit of humor into these police logs, please remember, the men and women whose job it is to protect us rarely find it funny when they are approaching a drunk person or a building where the alarm is going off.
