Benicia Residents Escape Early-Morning Fire
Officials said the second floor of a two-story Benicia residence was damaged in the early-morning blaze.
BENICIA, CA — An early-morning structure fire damaged much of the second level of a two-story Benicia home, according to the Benicia Fire Department. The fire in the 800 block of Bolton Circle was reported at around 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26.
Benicia Fire Engine 12 arrived at 4:04 a.m. and found that a fire from outside the residence had extended into the second floor.
The residents were alerted to the fire prior to firefighters' arrival, and escaped the blaze without injury.

The fire was under control at 4:54 a.m. with assistance from the Vallejo Fire Department, according to a Benicia Fire Department statement.
Firefighters were able to contain the flames to one room of the residence, but there was heat and smoke damage throughout the second floor, officials said.

"The preliminary investigation shows the fire started on the outside of the house near a garbage container," fire officials said.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross responded and provided the affected residents with assistance.
The Fairfield Fire Department provided coverage within the city of Benicia while firefighters from Benicia and Vallejo fought the fire.
