Benicia Senior Center Opens Cooling Site

BENICIA, CA — The Benicia Senior Center at 187 East L St. is the city’s official cooling center and will be open daily through the weekend from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. for residents who need a break from the heat.

Staff members will re-evaluate conditions Monday to decide if the facility will remain open.

In keeping with COVID-19 precautions, people entering the Benicia Senior Center will have their temperatures taken, are required to wear face coverings and must maintain social distancing, excluding individuals from the same household.

Space is limited, however, so officials encourage those not in crucial need to save the available space for seniors and others in need.
