Benicia Soccer Falls in Championship Game
Panthers taken down by Rio Americano in what has become an annual event.
The Benicia High School girls soccer team played Rio Americano for the Sac-Joaquin section championship on Saturday, May 22, 2011 at Cosumnes Oaks High School in Elk Grove. It's the fourth year in a row the teams have played for the title and it was Rio Americano that came away with the win this year reports the Vallejo Times Herald.
The Panthers had to play most of the second half of the game without starting outside midfielder Jenna Minahen who injured her hamstring. Her younger sister, Michelle Minahen was the replacement player.
